Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – North Korea launched the first tactical nuclear combat submarine for its Navy.
This submarine will patrol the waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.
As reported by Reuters, Friday (08/09), North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended the launch ceremony of the latest submarine on Wednesday (6/9) local time.
Kim Jong Un emphasized that arming the North Korean Navy with nuclear weapons is an urgent task and vowed to add more submarines and surface ships equipped with tactical nuclear weapons.
Submarine number 841 was named after North Korean historical figure Kim Kun Ok, who holds the title of hero.
Kim Jong Un prompted Pyongyang to accelerate efforts to produce nuclear-powered submarines in light of the enemy’s recent aggressive movements and military actions.
Kim Jon Un’s statement is said to refer to the United States (US) and South Korea (South Korea).
