Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia- It is reported that Elon Musk’s Starlink internet satellite will soon provide cheap internet access in Disadvantaged, Frontier and Outermost Regions (3T).
Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII), Muhammad Arif, views the government’s move to allow Starlink satellite internet to operate in Indonesia as a “talkative” step because internet service providers in Indonesia are also able to enter remote areas. Where RI has 960 company providers and many operate in small cities and are able to serve the internet in Indonesia.
In line with APJII, the Executive Director of the Indonesia ICT Institute, Heru Sutadi, believes that Starlink’s entry into Indonesia shows that there is no government coordination with local internet providers. Apart from that, Kominfo has the Satria-1 Satellite which can be used to expand internet services.
