Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed a number of agreements from the 43rd ASEAN Summit which took place in Jakarta for three days, 5-7 September 2023.
The President said that one of the points of agreement was that Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN) agreed to downstream the industry. In fact, three other Asian countries namely China, Japan and South Korea support the end-to-end development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in ASEAN, including Indonesia.
“Indonesia and ASEAN also continue to voice the interests of Pacific countries, the interests of developing countries, including the right to prosper their people through downstream industry,” said Jokowi during the closing press conference of the 43rd ASEAN Summit at the JCC, Jakarta, Thursday (07/09/2023).
“Alhamdulillah, we have achieved an agreement in this field for development end to end the EV ecosystem which is fully supported by China, Japan and Korea,” he said.
The President also said that he would also continue to voice the interests of developing countries regarding inclusiveness and the right to the welfare of the people, including downstream, in India’s G20.
He said, tomorrow he will fly to India for a series of G20 events.
“Tomorrow afternoon I leave for the G20 in India and the commitment that we will bring, in my opinion, stability and peace are the keys to prosperity. The world needs a safe house. Collaboration must be prioritized. RI will continue to voice the interests of developing countries regarding inclusiveness and the right to people’s welfare, including downstream. ” he explained.
As is known, the 43rd ASEAN Summit was officially closed today, Thursday (07/09/2023). President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially gave the hammer to Lao Prime Minister (PM) Sonexay Siphandone as the host of the 44th ASEAN Summit 2024.
In his speech, Jokowi gave appreciation to all countries present. It is known that the ASEAN Summit this time was attended by 10 ASEAN countries, minus Myanmar, and a number of partner countries including the United States (US), China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea (South Korea), Canada, Bangladesh to India, and the Cook Islands. .
“During these three days, 12 summit meetings have been held and produced 90 outcome documents and a number of concrete agreements with partners,” Jokowi said in his closing speech.
“During the meeting I captured the optimism and positive energy from all those present,” he added.
Jokowi also hopes that in the future ASEAN will become a peaceful and inclusive region. Because, emphasized Jokowi, this will lead to a better ASEAN and the world.
