Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The National Association of Chicken Breeders (GOPAN) stated that they would support the 2024 Republic of Indonesia Presidential candidate who doesn’t talk nonsense and cares about the welfare of chicken farmers in Indonesia.
GOPAN Chairperson, Pardjuni said that the elected presidential candidate must understand livestock issues, especially in terms of poultry.
“We ask leaders or officials who really care about independent breeders or community breeders, because so far everything has only been just a lot of theories and lots of promises,” he told CNBC Indonesia, quoted on Sunday (20/8/2023).
Pardjuni gave an example of one of the leaders who initially promised to be pro to smallholder breeders, but in practice it did not match what was expected.
“Last time yesterday, Pak SYL, the Minister of Agriculture, was also the same, so when we met after he was inaugurated, he promised the same ‘pro people’s breeders’, but in the end, the practice was far from what we expected,” said Pardjuni .
He hopes that the leaders, including the president, really have to understand the problems of agriculture and animal husbandry, so that the spearhead of the economy of the common people, whose part is farming and raising livestock, can be protected.
According to him, a presidential candidate who has a vision and mission to advance people’s breeders or revive independent people’s breeders will have positive points in the eyes of breeders.
“I think that is a positive point for us to choose and I think all of our independent farmer friends hear that sentence from their mouths, I think maybe it will be a positive point for them and surely there will be more votes there,” he said.
Meanwhile, of the three names of presidential candidates (bacapres) that have been revealed recently, Pardjuni is pessimistic that none of the three are qualified to be pro to smallholder breeders.
“For those three names, I also think they don’t know our problem yet, so I already have Mr. Ganjar’s number, I never replied to WhatsApp, the chicken business also doesn’t understand, I also met him, (Mr. Ganjar) wasn’t young ( understand),” he said.
“Then Prabowo too, even though he was chairman of the HKTI I think maybe what he knows is only about agriculture, in the world of poultry, especially broilers, he might still be blind. Then Anies, I think their world is also the world of education, so maybe if no one loves I know that the problems of small-scale breeders are like this, this, this, I don’t think anyone understands yet.”
Because at their feet, continued Pardjuni, or his successful team, no one is heard to have the foundation of community breeders or those who understand breeders’ problems.
“But we hope, if you want Ganjar, want Anies, want Prabowo if he doesn’t understand people’s breeders, I don’t think that’s our choice, it means he’s ready to be demonstrated by people’s breeders,” he said.
Pardjuni revealed, currently if you count in total those who are competent in the world of poultry, especially broiler chickens, starting from breeders, traders, suppliers, employees in cages, livestock medicine factories, feed factories, there are at least around 6 million votes that can be donated in the 2024 Election. in the future, if the presidential and vice presidential candidates have the intention to care for independent people’s breeders.
