Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Little boy named Aspen Brown got an extraordinary birthday present. He discovered a 2.95 carat golden brown diamond on September 1, 2023.
The diamond was discovered when Brown was celebrating his 7th birthday at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. At that time Brown visited the park with his family.
“Brown visited the park with his father and grandmother to celebrate his birthday. Brown picked up a gem the size of a green bean on a road along the northeastern part of the search area,” Diamonds State Park said in a statement, quoted from CNN InternationalSunday (10/9/2023).
Assistant park supervisor, Waymon Cox, explained that Aspen’s find was a diamond with a brown and shiny color. The diamond is a perfectly intact crystal, there are no broken parts.
“This is one of the most beautiful diamonds I have seen in recent years,” said Cox.
According to a release from the park, Brown’s find is the second largest in 2023. Last March, a 3.29 carat brown diamond was discovered.
The Diamonds State Park area covers 37 acres. There, visitors can look for treasures on the eroded surface of the volcanic crater.
Brown’s diamond discovery is also not the first. Every day there are at least one or two visitors who find diamonds in the area.
To date, it has been recorded that 75 thousand gems have been found there, since a farmer first discovered that the land in that area contained many diamonds and other precious stones.
Apart from diamonds, visitors can also find other gems. For example, amethyst or amethyst to garnet.
