Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A number of world countries are scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit which will take place in Jakarta, 5-7 September 2023. Some of them are starting to arrive.
The ASEAN summit will invite leaders from 22 countries. It consists of 11 member countries namely Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Timor Leste.
Then, there were nine countries whose partners were invited including the Republic of Korea, India, Japan, China, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Russia and the United States (US).
With the addition of two more countries namely, Bangladesh as Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and Cook Islands as Chair of the Pacific Island Forum (PIF).
Indonesia will also invite international organizations of the United Nations (UN), World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Economic Forum, IORA, and PIF.
Arrival of the Invitation
From a number of countries, there are several leaders of other countries who have come to Jakarta. From CNBC Indonesia’s records, one of the first state officials to arrive was Prime Minister (PM) of the Cook Islands Mark Brown. He was the first to arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Sunday (3/9/2023) at 19.25 WIB.
Next is Timor Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao. He also arrived at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Monday morning at 7.50 WIB. Xanana’s arrival was also immediately welcomed by the Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar and the Minister’s Expert Staff for Talent Management at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Tatang Muttaqin.
Followed by Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh. He also arrived in Indonesia at around 10.35 WIB. He was greeted directly by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong.
Apart from the Vietnamese PM, Lao PM Sonexay Siphandone, also arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport. Furthermore, there was Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim who arrived on an Airbus A320 aircraft bearing the words Malaysia.
Not long ago, the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah also arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport. Sultan Bolkiah is seen riding a wide-body level aircraft, the Boeing 747.
Then, Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin arrived in Jakarta by boarding a wide-body Boeing 787 bearing Bangladesh Airlines.
Then, Philippine President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos and his wife, Louise Marcos, arrived in Jakarta after 18.00 pm local time.
