Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Politician and member of the DPR RI from the PDI Perjuangan party (PDIP) Budiman Sudjatmiko has officially supported the future presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and declared Prabowo-Budiman (Prabu) volunteers. In fact, Budiman said he was ready to take responsibility for this decision.
Quoting detik.com, The King’s declaration was carried out at the Marina Convention, Semarang, last Friday (18/8/2023).
Budiman emphasized that this was done in the name and personal desire and had nothing to do with political parties.
“But I’m sure, I don’t have any bad prejudice against the PDI Perjuangan party, and the PDI Perjuangan, of course, has rules and if I am sanctioned, that’s my responsibility, that’s entirely the responsibility of Budiman Sudjatmiko,” explained Budiman as quoted from detik.com, Sunday (20/8).
He emphasized that the declaration meant that he supported Prabowo Subianto. He admits that he has reasons to prefer Prabowo over Ganjar Pranowo, who is promoted by his party.
Hoping Not to Get Fired PDIP
Although ready to accept sanctions, Budiman said he hoped not to be fired from the PDI Perjuangan party.
He then suggested that PDIP and Gerindra could form a strategic alliance in the 2024 Presidential Election. So, his attitude of supporting Prabowo recently was not considered wrong.
Apart from that, Budiman also hopes that the formation of the PDIP and Gerindra alliance will not result in him being fired by the PDIP.
“I know that it is [sanksi pemecatan] very sad for me. I just imagine I can teary eyed. Because, for me, PDIP, even since the name PDI was a political party, I have supported since its campaign, since 6th grade,” Budiman Sudjatmiko said, citing CNN Indonesia’s report, Sunday (20/8).
“And, if there is a sanction for me personally and emotionally it bothers me,” he continued.
Budiman felt sad if his status as a PDIP cadre was revoked after supporting Prabowo. However, he felt that his identity as a Sukarno-nationalist cadre would not be lost even if his status as a PDIP cadre was revoked.
He also doesn’t want to speculate if he leaves PDIP after supporting Prabowo. Budiman can’t imagine going into politics outside of PDIP.
PDIP as Budiman’s shelter has now supported Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate. PDIP is in coalition with PPP, Hanura, and Perindo.
