According to the Main Director of PT INTI Edi Witjara, the fact is true that in the field of telco equipment they are still filled from abroad, aka imported.

“If we look at the data, it’s valid. If we talk about equipment, especially in ICT and telco, maybe almost 90 percent are still imported from abroad,” said Edi in the BUMN Performance Report 2023 on CNBC Indonesia, Friday (1/9/2023) .

However, this is considered to be no one’s fault. Because the government itself has implemented rules such as the Domestic Component Level (TKDN). But how do the domestic industry deal with it by continuing to move to see the opportunities that exist.

There are two main keys for domestic players to be able to compete, namely determining quality and price.

“One thing about quality, you can’t make really good quality, it turns out that no one needs it,” he said.

“Second is the pricing. These two things can be managed, and we need to know which segment it is,” Edi added.

PT INTI itself determines their segments, namely the government sector, private, small medium enterprise, to retail.

Laptop and cloud production

He further gave an example that the market for laptops in Indonesia is quite large. With one department in one ministry alone can spend Rp 6 trillion per year.

But he saw all this time the goods purchased came from abroad. Meanwhile, from within the country they do not yet have their own production, especially BUMN.

For this reason, PT INTI launched a laptop on August 17, which coincided with RI’s 78th anniversary.

“We are launching a laptop product, the brand is CORE, the specs are okay, we will follow the market. We only have two types now, we will continue to adjust them and the pricing will be competitive,” he explained.

“So hopefully this will be the forerunner,” added Edi.

Apart from laptops, PT INTi also has cloud services which are now ready to use. He said that there were already customers and there was feedback from their consumers regarding this product.
