Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo revealed that subsidies for Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train tickets had not yet been proposed at the ministry level.
He explained, this was because there was no regulatory basis for providing subsidies for high-speed train tickets, such as for LRT tickets as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 67 of 2023.
“No, at the moment we haven’t, so the LRT does have a presidential regulation, so far there is no KCIC, but we are still discussing with the Ministry of Transportation how the scheme will be, so we don’t have it,” said the man who is familiarly called Tiko when met at the JCC, Tuesday (22/8/2023).
In terms of ticket fares, according to him, there is no decision yet. Therefore, Tiko ensured that the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Transportation are still continuing to formulate the fare amount for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.
“Frankly, there aren’t any tickets, that will be the authority of the Ministry of Transportation, it’s still being discussed, it hasn’t been finalized yet, after this we will discuss it,” he said.
Tiko also revealed that the Ministry of Transportation has not yet set a date for the full operation of the high-speed train. As of September 2023, the target is still in the trial phase.
“We don’t know the date yet, we’ll see if it’s related to the Ministry of Transportation’s greenlight, we’ll see when it can have full operation later, it should be shared, but we’ll try the operation in September first,” said Tiko.
President Jokowi previously stated that all public transportation must be subsidized. One of the public transportation facilities that must be subsidized is the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train.
“Both the so-called airport trains, both the so-called TransJakarta, KRL, both the so-called trains, the so-called LRT, the so-called MRT, the so-called fast trains, everything has to have subsidies,” Jokowi said after trying the Jabodetabek LRT, Thursday ( 10/8/2023).
Meanwhile, PT Kereta Api Indonesia-China (KCIC) ensures that the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) is ready to operate in September 2023. This is in accordance with government directives, especially President Joko Widodo’s request.
KCIC confirmed that the Jakarta-Bandung fast train fare for 142 Km will be priced at IDR 250,000 per passenger. The investment for this project exceeded IDR 100 trillion after there was a cost overrun.
“The ticket plan is IDR 250,000,” said the Main Director of the Indonesia China Fast Train (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi in Jakarta quoted on Wednesday (16/8/2023).
