Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Jabodebek Light Rail Transit or LRT has experienced disturbances in the last few days. The disturbance of the LRT train without a driver made in Indonesia went viral, starting from the train doors, delays to power outages.
The disruption that occurred also made Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also respond. He stated that if there were any deficiencies in the LRT it would be subject to correction and evaluation.
What is clear, this LRT without a driver is the first for Indonesia. Moreover, as is well known, the Jabodebek LRT is made by local people through PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA in Madiun, East Java.
So that President Jokowi advised not to bully products produced by Indonesia itself.
“That there are deficiencies, that’s a correction. If there are deficiencies, we will evaluate them, evaluate them from INKA, from KAI. Don’t bully our own products, who wants to be proud if we as users don’t. fix design deficiencies, it has to be like that,” said Jokowi, at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, Thursday (31/8/2023).
He gave an example like the TGV or Fast train in France, and the Shinkansen from Japan also takes decades to run properly. “(Don’t) bully us for every shortcoming, people don’t have the courage to try to make something,” he added.
Just so you know, the Jabodebek LRT Train is made by INKA, a state-owned company that has a factory in Madiun. Has an axle load of 12 tons with aluminum alloy material. The train is considered to be proof of the ability of Indonesian engineers to design the first driverless train.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir also opened his voice about the disruption to the LRT. According to him, this can be said to be reasonable because it needs adjustments and transitions.
“But are you happy to go up? Are you not happy to go up, this is the work of the nation’s children, this is our first time having the LRT, yes, there must be a transitional period. We must not be a nation that complains a little bit,” he added.
This support, said Erick, is at the same time building an environmentally friendly mode of transportation to reduce pollution in the city of Jakarta. “Finally what? When air pollution like today is cranky, but supporting those made in Indonesia, using public vehicles is cranky, so what’s the solution?” he said
Erick is optimistic that the Jabodebek LRT will be able to reduce pollution in the city of Jakarta and its surroundings. According to the government’s calculations, the LRT is capable of transporting 140,000 people. In the future, it is targeted to be able to serve 400,000 people every day.
In fact, this number is predicted to be able to suppress the 992,000 vehicles entering Jakarta every day. “So we all have to be grateful, we have to fight pollution, reduce the use of private vehicles, with what? Public transportation, LRT,” he concluded.
Previously, Budi Karya Sumadi said that all parties should be proud that the LRT project could be completed in the hands of the nation’s children, namely collaboration between state-owned companies such as KAI, Adhi Karya, LEN, and INKA.
“Yes, we must be proud that 90% are products of the nation’s children, 90% and we are indeed careful and conservative, therefore we report to Mr. can have products of the nation’s children that we must respect,” said Budi Karya, while testing the LRT train, Monday (28/8/2023).
