Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A report published by the Access Partnership states that there are 10 thousand development companies in Indonesia. Total revenue reached IDR 1.5 trillion generated from Google Play.
Senior Advisor for Indonesia at Access Partnership, Abhineet Kaul, explained that 10 thousand developers produced 42 thousand applications on Android.
“Now we have 10 developer companies in Indonesia who have developed almost 42 thousand local applications on Google Play,” he explained, at the Play & Android Insights 2.0 event, Monday (11/9/2023).
However, he did not have segment details for the app. Abhineet only explained that the top segments are social media and games.
“So there is social media and social applications. Next are games and productivity applications such as file sharing, increasing business productivity,” said Abhineet.

The report also touches on the number of workers in the application economy in Indonesia. The number reaches 162 thousand jobs and this number is divided into direct and indirect jobs.
About 36 thousand came from direct work as application developers or other technical roles. A similar amount also comes from indirect work, such as non-tech roles at tech companies. Meanwhile, the remaining 90 thousand is spillover work.
However, he stated that this number was still very small compared to the large ecosystem in Indonesia.
“This number is still very small and can still grow. That is why it requires skills development and the need to ensure greater development,” he explained.
