Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – India is one of the new kings in the world of technology. Apart from the large market, the country also produces some of the best talents for the industry today.
Senior Economist Fitra Faishal explained that India has long focused on the field of science and technology. In fact, 80-90% of campus graduates come from IT or related fields.
“In the end, most of the talent initially had a bit of difficulty absorbing it locally. It was spread everywhere,” said Fithra when met in Jakarta, Monday (11/9/2023).
After a long journey, India finally got the results. For example, many Indians now or have held top positions at world technology giants.
“But now it can be felt that almost all IT CEOs come from India. Because they have focused there from the start, no wonder they have extraordinary digital talent,” he said.
Indonesia can also imitate their way of preparing the roadmap. The map was compiled in stages and also requires patience.
Indian talent is also not immediately famous in the world. But as time goes by, the country’s technology industry is developing rapidly.
“Gradually, India patiently waited for their talents. At first not many were absorbed because they were not widely known in the world. But now the Indian and Chinese diaspora is everywhere,” explained Fithra.
When asked how the situation in Indonesia is now, Fithra said he was still ‘shocked’. In some cases, many things are prohibited because they are not appropriate or create a lot of regulations.
He hopes the government can understand and communicate more instead of imposing punishment. So industry players can build a road map together.
“Hopefully the government will understand, talk and communicate more than just banning it. Together with the existing actors, we will build a road map,” he concluded.
