Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A man in Japan recently started a new life as a dog. His unusual life choices have earned him the attention of many media.
Toco, the guy’s name, even willing to pay a fortune to make super realistic dog costumes. He says the dog costume has helped fulfill his dream of “becoming an animal.”
“This desire (to be an animal) has been around for a long time, as far as I can remember,” said Toco, quoted from his personal YouTube channel, I want to be an animalTuesday (1/8/2023).
Zeppet, the company that manufactures the dog costumes for Toco, says it takes them 40 days to make the furry fashion item. The dog costume cost 2 million yen or around Rp. 211.8 million
“Modeled after a collie, this costume mimics the appearance of a real dog walking on all fours,” a company spokesperson told news.com.au.
Despite gaining popularity online, Toco hid his unusual obsession from most of his friends and family.
“I rarely tell my friends because I’m afraid they might think I’m weird,” he said in a separate interview with Mirrors. “My friends and family seemed very shocked to learn that I had become an animal.”
Toco also said that most of his colleagues were unaware that he dressed as a dog outside of work.
“I don’t want my hobby to be known, especially to the people I work with,” he told me DailyMail.
“They think it’s weird that I want to be a dog. It’s the same reason why I can’t show my real face.”
