Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo attended the commemoration of Constitution Day and the 78th Birthday of the Deliberative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara IV MPR/DPR/DPD Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (18/8/2023). The nation’s vision was also discussed in Jokowi’s remarks.
“First of all on behalf of the nation and state, I wish happy Constitution Day and happy 78th birthday to the MPR RI,” he said starting his remarks.
“This commemoration is a strategic momentum to discuss the nation’s strategy in achieving goals in the midst of world conditions that are often unpredictable and full of uncertainties,” he continued.
According to the former governor of DKI Jakarta, we all want to build a just and prosperous society, become a developed country, and become a prosperous country. The head of state said that all of these visions are correct, but in order to execute them, there must be clear benchmarks.
“What are the benchmarks for being fair and prosperous? Developed countries, prosperous countries, what are the benchmarks? Is it per capita income or the human development index or the unemployment rate or the poverty rate or what or all of it?” Jokowi said.
“Because if the vision is not formulated with benchmarks, it’s called political jargon. Yes, political jargon is not clear in form, the strategy cannot be explained, the steps cannot be formulated and usually it is certain that it will be difficult to materialize,” he continued.
Therefore, Jokowi reminded that the vision should not become political jargon, normative language, beautiful language, and in the air. The big vision must be grounded, tactical and the benchmarks must be clear.
“It must be clear about the grand strategy and technical strategy and steps, time targets and so on, and so on. Where is this nation going, where is it going so that the people can participate and the people feel they belong,” said Jokowi.
