Jokowi said Indonesia hopes that the world will become one big family that builds each other up and has a common goal of creating a peaceful life.
“I agree, if the world is like one big family, however, the family that Indonesia hopes for is a family that builds each other up, cares for each other, and has one common goal, namely creating a peaceful and prosperous life,” said the statement.
For this reason, he said that there are a number of things to realize this goal, one of which is creating global stability, one of which is stopping war.
“We must stop war, adhere firmly to international law, and work together to achieve inclusiveness,” he said.
Furthermore, the President emphasized that currently Indonesia continues to encourage ASEAN to become an anchor of regional stability in the Indo-Pacific. The President believes this is because the world currently needs it safe house.
Another thing that is considered to help create a peaceful and prosperous life is maintaining solidarity between countries. The former Governor of DKI Jakarta believes that the categorization of countries which seems to be compartmentalizing must end immediately.
“We need to end the dichotomy that divides, north and south, developed and developing, or east and west,” he stressed.
Give the Global South a Voice
Apart from that, Jokowi, for this reason, said that cooperation and space for dialogue must be open to all parties and the rights of all countries must not be sidelined, including the rights of developing countries.
Therefore, Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia will continue to convey the voices and interests of the countries of the global south.
“Indonesia will continue to echo the voice and interests of the Global South, and encourage broader regional representation. For this reason, I welcome the participation of the African Union in the G20,” he explained.
Not only that, the Head of State also said that global solidarity on health issues must also continue to be strengthened, one of which is through the mobilization of a pandemic fund of US$ 2 billion that needs to be created.
Furthermore, he also said that equality could also help create a peaceful and prosperous world. One way this can be created is through justice in global reform and transparency.
“Including the issue of the international tax system, with the fulfillment of development rights for all, including developing countries,” he said.
The President gave an example, one of which is supporting industrial downstreaming carried out by a country in order to make a development leap. “Because this is the right of developing countries to take a leap in development,” he stressed.
Therefore, the President encouraged G20 countries to support the participation of developing countries in the global supply chain and encourage equal cooperation.
“The G20 must support the participation of developing countries in global supply chains and encourage an equal and inclusive cooperation ecosystem,” he stressed.
