Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Labor Party has announced the names of its chosen candidates for Presidential Candidates (Capres) and Vice Presidential Candidates (Cawapres) to compete in the upcoming 2024 elections. Anies Baswedan, who was included as one of the names of presidential candidates selected based on the national working meeting (Rakernas) in February 2023, is currently missing.
“From the review period, Anies’ name was eliminated by the presidium meeting based on the party’s structural organs and the party’s founding organs. While the structural organs were more concerned with management and KTA, the founding organs were more with the farmer labor union,” said Said Iqbal at a press conference at his Kramatjati office, East Jakarta , Wednesday (13/9/2023).
Other names that were unexpected were included, namely Academician Rocky Gerung and former Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli. The entry of the two names was based on a number of processes, including the review process and the presidium meeting on September 11 2023.
“Finally a labor party presidential candidate emerged, Ganjar was supported by 12 provinces, Prabowo Subianto in 12 provinces, apparently Ganjar and Prabowo were popular within the labor party. Then Said Iqbal was supported by 8 provinces, Najwa Shihab 2 provinces, Rizal Ramli 2 provinces, Rocky Gerung 2 provinces. Labor Party “It’s up to the members to be free,” he said.

The first two names are presidential candidates who have been put forward by the party, while the other four names are alternative candidates if the Constitutional Court (MK) cancels the presidential threshold rule of 20%. Prabowo Subianto’s name was not even initially included as a person who would be supported in the 2024 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the name of the Cawapres exchange has not changed much. Initially, the Labor Party provided support for Kadin Chairman Arsjad Rasjid, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, KSPI President Said Iqbal and Journalist Najwa Shihab.
“The vice presidential candidates have not changed much but there have been an increase, Arsjad Rasjid in 14 provinces, Said Iqbal in 7 provinces, Mahfud MD in 7 provinces, Najwa Shihab in 4 provinces, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono turned out to be one of the Labor Party’s vice presidential candidates in 4 provinces and Mrs. Susi Pudjiastuti in 2 provinces, in total 38 provinces,” he exclaimed.
