Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government will change the term Isa Messiah to Jesus Christ.
This change was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy in a press statement at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture office, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/9/2023).
“There will be a change in nomenclature based on the Ministry of Religion’s proposal regarding the term, namely Isa Messiah will be changed to Jesus Christ,” he said.
For this reason, continued Muhadjir, the Ministry of Religion will prepare a presidential regulation for the change in nomenclature in question.
Deputy Minister of Religion Saiful Rahmat Dasuki said the change was a proposal from Protestant Christians and Catholic Christians.
For the record, there are three national holidays related to Jesus Christ so far, namely birth, death and ascension.
“Indeed, it was their proposal and we fought for it. Thank God, it was accepted,” said Saiful.
