Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Even though internet penetration in Indonesia is very high, there are still many areas throughout Indonesia that do not have optimal cellular signal or internet network coverage. Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, encouraged all regional leaders to actively monitor and report blank spots in their respective regions.
Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, appreciated regional leaders who pay great attention to the availability of digital infrastructure in their regions. Through regional leaders’ reports, Kominfo can more easily map areas that need telecommunications infrastructure development.
He praised the initiative of North Bengkulu Regent Mian who visited the Kominfo office some time ago.
During their visit, the Regent of North Bengkulu and the Minister of Communication and Information discussed the construction of BTS towers in the area. They also discussed increasing digitalization in North Bengkulu.
Before the visit, Mian communicated with Budi via telephone. He requested additional BTS towers for the needs of the people in his area.
“I immediately conveyed the public’s complaints regarding the request for the construction of a BTS tower, because there are still many areas in our area that do not receive optimal communication signals,” wrote Mian in his personal Instagram upload.
“Thank God, he immediately responded positively & we will write and present it immediately to the Ministry of Communication and Information,” he continued.
During the meeting, Budi said that if other regents were like Mian, Indonesia could progress further.
“If 514 regents are like you, Indonesia will progress,” said Budi in response to Mian’s report.
