Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple and Samsung dominate the top 10 best-selling HP in the ‘Omdia Smart Phone Model Market Tracker 2Q23’ report. iPhone itself has five models in the list.
Apple shipped a total of 26.5 million units throughout Q2 2023. The first place is occupied by the iPhone 14 Pro Max, followed by the iPhone 14 pro. Both are the most expensive models in the iPhone 14, starting from US $ 1,099 (IDR 16 million) for the iPhone 14 Pro Max and US $ 999 (IDR 15 million) for the iPhone 124 Pro.
However, compared to last year’s top 10, iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments have decreased. This year, the number of shipments is ‘only’ 7.2 million units.
The iPhone 11 is also in the top 10 of the report. Quite old, shipments of these cellphones reached 6.9 million units in the first half of 2023.
Meanwhile, global smartphone shipments recorded negative growth. The cause is the lower middle class HP market due to the economic recession and the expansion of the used smartphone market.
The premium segment smartphone market is also reportedly increasing. This is because demand for replacements for premium models remains strong.
The preference for Apple as a premium smartphone has also continued to increase, especially in emerging markets. This makes the sales volume and the proportion of high-end models are still increasing in the iPhone series.
In the same report, five Samsung cellphones were also included in the top 10 best selling cellphones. The highest ranking is occupied by the Galaxy A14 which is at number 5 with shipments of 12.4 million units.
While the 5G version is in 7th place with 9 million units. Other Samsung phones included in the report are the Galaxy S23 Ultra (number 6) with 9.6 million units shipped, Galaxy A54 5G (number 8) 8.8 million units, and Galaxy A34 5G (number 9) with 7.1 million units.
