Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil revealed that the government plans to increase subsidies for the electric motorbike conversion program from the previous IDR 7 million to IDR 10 million per unit. This step was taken to encourage public interest in joining this program.
Responding to this, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Dadan Kusdiana did not deny that plans to increase subsidies for the electric motor conversion program were being discussed.
“Yes (going up), one of them was discussed at the meeting because now Rp. 7 million, especially for the conversion process, is slow,” said Dadan when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday (23/8/2023).
Dadan explained, the lack of public interest in participating in this program was due to the lack of subsidies given. Meanwhile, the cost of converting it into an electric motorbike requires funds of IDR 15 million.
“One of them is because the public sees that with the current figure of Rp. 15 million for conversion, there is still Rp. 8 million to be paid. Can it be added in a process like that? No decision has been made yet,” he said.
Previously, the Director of Energy Conservation at the Directorate General of EBTKE at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Gigih Udi Utomo explained that people who wish to convert fuel-based motors to electric motors can at least register through the digital platform www.ebtke.esdm.go.id/konversi.
“As of Tuesday (4/4/2023) digital platforms can be accessedlaunchingAlready go live. For motorbike owners who want to apply for their BBM motorbikes to be converted into electric motorbikes, the public can register for conversion, then choose the nearest repair shop that has been certified by us, “explained Gigih in a written statement.
According to Gigih, this platform provides applicant services, namely for conversion registration, selecting information on the nearest conversion workshop from the location and being able to check the status of the motorbike conversion. As for conversion workshops, workshops can also register to become conversion workshops through the platform.
Gigih said, on this platform there are 9 stages of conversion. But don’t worry, these 9 stages are almost all in the responsibility of the conversion workshop.
“So people only focus on the first stage, which is to register on the digital platform only, and fill in self-identification data according to the ID card and what motorbike will be converted, after the time has been determined, the workshop will contact the applicant,” said Gigih.
The engine capacity of the electric convertible motor is the 100-150 CC range. For people who are interested in this electricity conversion program, please register on the www.ebtke.esdm.go.id/konversi platform by selecting the available workshops on the digital platform.
“The second step, the workshop will contact the applicant to come to the garage. The applicant must bring his identity and vehicle identity (KTP, STNK and BPKB). The workshop will check the legality of conformity between STNK, BPKB, frame number, engine number. Then after completion, check the condition of the motorbike is ready to be converted, “said Gigih.
Furthermore, regarding payment, the repair shop will explain the total cost of conversion. The total payment for the motorbike conversion will be reduced by IDR 7 million. This IDR 7 million is a subsidy program for the conversion of one motorbike for a target of 50 thousand units in 2023.
“So if for example the conversion fee is Rp. 15 million, then the fee that must be paid to the workshop is Rp. 15 million minus Rp. 7 million, so the remaining Rp. 8 million. After agreeing, the applicant will sign a letter of agreement between the conversion workshop and the applicant. Then the motorbike is converted, It won’t take long, in a matter of hours, it can be finished,” said Gigih.
