Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The future presidential candidate (bawapres) Prabowo Subianto is said to be the most powerful figure in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) after receiving support from two major Indonesian parties, Golkar and the National Mandate Party (PAN).
Deputy Chairman of PAN Yandri Susanto said that Prabowo’s chances of winning in the 2024 Presidential Election are getting bigger. However, Yandri said that there was a condition if Prabowo wanted to get the most votes, namely having the right vice president.
So, who is the right vice president for the Minister of Defense who is also General Chair of the Gerindra Party?
“Because Pak Prabowo has a high chance of winning (the 2024 presidential election) with Pak Prabowo’s survey, Pak Erick is tall, then he is young, energetic, has achievements, I think it is right if Pak Prabowo later takes ET (Erick Thohir),” Yandri said at the Complex MPR/DPR, Senayan, Jakarta, last Monday quoted on Saturday (2/9/2023).
According to Indonesian CNN, Yandri said that in recent times, the results of Erick Thohir’s survey showed an increase in electability as a candidate for vice president (cawapres). Thus, he said, PAN’s attitude in proposing Erick was not a subjective matter.
Erick’s name took first place as the public choice cawapres according to the Political Indicator survey which was held June 20-24. Its electability was recorded at 22.9%. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) also recorded the same thing in a survey on July 1-8. In the simulation of 24 vice presidential candidates, Erick was in the top position with 14.3% electability.
“PAN is very objective in proposing the ET,” he said.
Previously, the general chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, revealed that President Jokowi’s son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has the potential to become a candidate for vice president to accompany Prabowo Subianto.
Airlangga said the options depended on the dynamics that would occur. According to him, now is the last round of determining the presidential election candidates. Airlangga admitted that there had been no specific decision regarding Prabowo’s running mate.
“Yes, this, right, the last chapter there are still some developments. We will see further developments,” said Airlangga.
