Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Vivo has just released its newest V-series in Indonesia, namely the Vivo V29 5G. This cellphone is the successor to the V27 5G which was launched in March 2023.
In general, the Vivo V29 and V27 5G still use the same narrative, namely a mid-range cellphone with advantages in the photography sector.
However, based on the specifications on paper, the Vivo V29 5G doesn’t bring many surprises. In fact, the camera specifications, which are the main selling point, did not show a significant improvement.
The design language has not changed either. In full, here is a comparison of the Vivo V29 and V27 5G, summarized by CNBC Indonesia, Friday (8/9/2023).
Screen
Both come with a curved screen design on the right and left sides.
Vivo V27 comes with a 6.78 inch AMOLED screen, Full HD Plus resolution (2,400×1,080 pixels), and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen notch is a punch hole type and is located above the center of the screen.
The improvement on the Vivo V29 is only in terms of resolution, which is now higher at 1,260×2,800 pixels.
Camera
Vivo V29 relies on a 50MP main camera (OIS), accompanied by a secondary 8MP (ultrawide) and 2MP (monochrome) camera.
The camera specifications are almost identical to the Vivo V27. The only difference is that the third camera uses a 2MP (macro) resolution sensor.
The function of a monochrome lens is actually not very significant, namely making photos produce sharp colors. Meanwhile, the macro lens is able to produce more detailed images by taking closer objects.
Vivo V29 and V27 also both have ring lights to support LED flash performance. On the V29, the ‘Aura Light’ lamp measures 15.6mm on the bottom side of the camera panel. Aura Light technology is claimed to be able to provide more powerful portrait results.
The difference in camera specifications that is immediately detectable is on the front side. The V27 camera uses a 32MP resolution front camera, while the V29 is 50MP higher.
Processor and Battery
Vivo V29 5G uses Snapdragon 778G innards accompanied by 8GB and 12GB RAM. Memory can be selected between 256GB and 512GB.
Meanwhile, the Vivo V27 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 (4nm) chipset paired with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB memory.
In fact, these two chipsets, which are different brands, are still in the same class in terms of performance. This means that there is no significant improvement to the kitchen engine.
The batteries also have a capacity of 4,600 mAh, which is relatively small for a mid-range cellphone.
The difference is the fast charging feature. The V29 supports 80W fast charging, while the V27 uses 66W fast charging.
Vivo V29 comes in 3 colors, namely Velvet Red, Noble Black and Peak Blue. Meanwhile, the Vivo V27 only has two colors, namely Flowing Gold and Noble Black.
Price of Vivo V27 and V29
Vivo V27 was released with only one storage option, namely 8/256GB and is priced at IDR 5,999,000.
Meanwhile, the V29 was released in two variants, namely 8/256GB which was sold for IDR 5,999,000 and 12/512GB IDR 6,999,000
