Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp presents a number of features that indicate someone is online or opening the application. However, there are several ways to disable this feature.
Some of these features range from a blue double tick to last seen. The last feature shows when the user last used WhatsApp.
Disabling these features can make us avoid responding to other people’s chats quickly. Especially if you don’t want to be contacted via WhatsApp.
Here are some ways you can appear offline on WhatsApp:
1. Turn off Last Seen
As previously written, Last Seen is a sign that someone is using WhatsApp or online. You can turn it off to appear not to be using the app.
To turn off this feature by pressing the three dot icon. Then select Settings > Privacy > Who Can See My Personal Info. Finally select Last Seen and click the Nobody option to disable the feature for everyone whether the contact is saved or not.
2. Disable Blue Check
Two blue ticks indicate that the message has been sent and has been read by the recipient. You can also turn off this feature, see the following method:
- Click on the three dot icon in the upper right corner of WhatsApp
- Select Settings
- Press Account > Privacy
- Slide the toggle for the Read Receipts or Read Receipts option
- The blue tick is deactivated
3. Hide Status
You can also hide your status by setting who can see it. The first step is to enter the three-dot menu at the top right and click Privacy, continue by pressing the Status menu.
You will see three options Status will be shared. Starting from “My Contacts”, “My Contacts Except…”, and “Only Share With…”. Select as desired.
4. Create Statuses
If you don’t want to be disturbed at all, you can also write down the status. You can say that you don’t want messages to be sent for a certain amount of time.
To write Status, click the three dot icon > Settings > WhatsApp profile name > About. Next press the pencil icon and write down the status, finally press the Save button.
5. Turn off Background Data
This method can only be used for Android phones. Namely by opening Settings and entering the data menu and selecting disable Background Data.
By turning off Background Data, you will no longer receive messages. Because the chat will continue to enter if WhatsApp is still working in the background.
